Eurocodes & Approvals and Certifications for FRP Bridge Decking Planks

Here you will find all the information regarding assessments according to the Standards of the Eurocode NEN-EN 1991-2 +C1/NB, DIBT approvals, and certifications held by krafton®.

Our FRP Bridge Decking Elements are all calculated in accordance with the applicable Eurocodes. Eurocodes act as standards for designing, and for verifying the structural safety of new-build structures. Within Europe, these Eurocodes serve as a uniform calculation method of structural safety, and harmonise calculations for structural building products. The standards apply for all European member states, thus facilitating an international market.

DIBt approval for krafton® FRP Bridge Decking Elements

Our krafton® FRP bridge decking elements and fastening methods are all DIBt approved. This German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt) issues approvals concerning general building supervision (abZ) for building materials and designs. In addition, this certification agency issues European Technical Assessments (ETA) for building materials and building equipment. A DIBt certification is highly reliable proof of the suitability and applicability of our building materials. The DIBt certification guarantees that our FRP Bridge Decking Elements comply with the applicable structural requirements.

The current DIBt approval for krafton® FRP bridge decking of the types 236.40, 256.40, 400.80, 500.40, 500.55 and the corresponding assembly methods, is valid until September 2027. This validity period of these DIBt approvals will be extended thereafter.

DIBt approval for krafton® FRP profiles

EBA authorization DBS 918010 for the Deutsche Bahn

Our GRP bridge deck is widely used by the German railroads. They work with the EBA certification.

krafton® is unique in Europe with an EBA approval for GRP bridge deck boards. (21.51-21izbia/030-2101#008-(011/18-ZUL). This is the standard that, according to Deutsche Bahn, must be fulfilled as standard.
We are certified for Deutsche Bahn in accordance with DBS 918010.

In practice, this means that all krafton® GRP bridge deck boards are included in this authorization. We are proud of the fact that krafton® is the only supplier with this broad approval.
