Production control of krafton® FRP Bridge Decking Elements

Our many years of experience in the production of glass fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP) profiles guarantees consistently high product quality. Nevertheless, quality needs permanent monitoring. To this end, we have advanced Zwick-Roell testing equipment available, allowing us to mechanically test our profiles and planks to the specified standards.

From the selection of raw materials to checks on the finished product, we follow a well thought out and tried & tested quality management system. Through our control procedures, we monitor our FRP products based on their application.

In addition to quality control at the factory, SKZ conducts a semi-annual external inspection of production and manufacturing processes, by way of an additional guarantee of reliability and quality.

Furthermore, good communication and cooperation with our customers and suppliers help us to always provide optimal solutions based on our customers’ needs.

Approvals and certifications

Please find below a list of the approvals and certifications with which our products come.
Due to the recent company name change from Bijl Profielen to krafton®, valid certificates issued under W.B. Bijl Profilen BV are also listed here.

European Standard EN 13706

European standard EN 13706 – Reinforced plastic composites, specifications for pultruded profiles – covers structures for which load-carrying capacity is an essential criterion and whose profiles have a supporting function. The standard specifies minimum requirements for quality, surface area, tolerances, and strength and stiffness values in two classes:

  • E23 – for the highest demands
  • E17 – for less critical applications.

krafton® meets the E23 standard. Otherwise, the standard consists of three parts:

  • EN 1
  • EN 13706-1: Classification and marking of construction profiles according to matrix and reinforcing material, surface treatment, etc.
  • EN 13706-2: Test methods and tolerances and guidelines for quality control.
  • EN 13706-3: Minimum technical requirements for the two classes of the standard.

All krafton® bridge decking plank profiles meet or exceed the requirements in E23

DIBt Z-10.9-655: krafton® FRP Bridge Decking Elements

Our krafton® FRP bridge decking elements and fastening methods are DIBt approved. As a German certification agency, the German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt) issues general construction supervision approvals (abZ) for building materials and building designs, and also issues European Technical Assessments (ETA) for building materials and building equipment.

General building inspectorate approvals are highly reliable proof of the suitability and applicability of building materials when it comes to structural requirements for structures.

The DIBt approval for krafton® FRP bridge decking elements type 256.40, 500.40, 500.55, 400.85 and the corresponding assembly methods, is valid until September 2027.

Each of our FRP Bridge Decking Planks features a TÜV-tested non-slip wear layer. We guarantee that our FRP Bridge Decking Planks can be safely taken into use immediately. In addition to the R12 and R13 evaluation groups of slip resistance, FRP planks also meet Class E of fire resistance (according to EN13501-1:2007+A1:2009 and ISO11925-2:2010).
